Default Book Club ~ The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Yet again, the public have voted, and the book for discussion this week is...

    ------------

'Charlie is a freshman , and while he's not the biggest geek in the school, he is by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent beyond his years yet socially awkward, he is a wallflower, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it. Charlie is attempting to navigate his way through uncharted territory: the world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends........'

    ------------

    The discussion is now closed.

I think this is a lovely book and the film is just as good (probably the actors they got to be in it!!)
The bit where all his friends leave him was heartbreaking But I was a bit disappointed with the end when he survived?? Could have been a heart wrenching book

Absolutely loved the book, and the film did it justice, kept to the storyline really well. The actors were perfect - despite Emma Watson's dodgy american accent lol. Same Charlie, I was holding back the tears when they all left, and the stuff about his Aunt Helen

An incredible book and I'm so glad the film stayed true to it, really. Like said above, the bits where they all left Charlie was sad and things, but it was a really great book. Probably going to read it again in the winter holidays. It's one of my fav books

I really love the book and it's so depressing I haven't been able to see the movie yet but seems like it's really good. I think I'm going to reread it on holiday although it's a pity I haven't been able to find a proper copy of it, only have the downloaded PDF.
At the moment though I think people are using the quotes 'And in that moment, I swear we were infinite' and 'We accept the love we think we deserve' too much and aren't really concentrating on the background of them. I think some of the characters are really relatable maybe to some who are actually struggling with things irl like Patrick's hidden relationship etc. But it's really sad in parts like others have said but overall totally worth reading for those who haven't.
