    Default Debates Section

Since there are less debates made now than previously, it seems pointless to have a 'members debates' subforum. Why not have all debates in one section (with the official debate stuck at the top), you could also give @Grig; a tag to use when making the official debate so that it is easier to recognise (even though it would be stuck to the top of the forum anyway) obviously the 'debates which have ended' subforum could stay.

Sounds like a good idea :3

It'd mean less subforums. When I first came here, I only thought the few debates existed. I didn't even realise that there was another load of debates

Could do but I don't really see it as much of an issue.

It's not an issue as such but it certainly makes more sense to have all debates visible in one forum for ease of access.

I wouldn't be for it, as there hasn't really been a marked increase on the amount of debates. I personally prefer it the way it is, because it looks much neater and more organized. I'd be happy to listen to more reasons for merging it though .

If we put them all in one forum it would make it look more "full" which certainly can't be a big thing??

Definitely agree with this, it's nice to glance at the official debates and then delve into the member created ones if I fancy it.

Might as well merge the two. Both forums aren't really that active these days and a simple stickied thread at the top for the official debate would be fine. It seems weird the parent forum only has a few threads in while the sub-forums hold the majority of the threads. With just one forum you might see an increase in activity - it worked for the "Technology Discussions" which saw the "Portable Devices" forum removed creating greater coverage - quite a lot of people were oblivious to that forum so it is likely to work here. It's incredibly untidy, really. If anything, keeping it seems to be for sentimental reasons than for practicality reasons.

On the topic of sub-forum removals. When is that ghastly sub-forum in Discuss Anything going to be removed? We all know sub-forums are places forums and threads go to die, you might as well be kind and just remove them and bring the forum to some sort of normality.

I don't want to sound rude but the debates manager role is about as useful as a glass hammer. It's like having a technology manager. I never understood why a debates manager was needed it's practically saying regular users can't create good debates so we'll hire someone who can. Either way I agree with Akeam.
