Your Family

I'm posting this to see how many of you have parents that are still together or have parents that have separated. The reason I'm posting this is because my family has been spilt for close to 15 years now. I lived with my mom ever since. My dad and I had a rocky relationship until 2 years ago, now we're good and I couldn't be happier.

My brother graduated from university a few days ago and my mom and dad were together at the graduation. Obviously we partied as a family and the drinks were flowing. My mom and dad are both grads of the university so they knew a lot of people there. People came up to us and my parents introduced each other as their exes and I was baffled at the looks on their faces. It was like they had never seen a divorced couple in the same room at the same time..

Are your parents together? If not, do they still talk?

Mine are still together, 23 years, but my dad was married before.

My mum and dad are together, 19 years as of a couple of months ago.

my mum and dad split about 18 years ago, they still get on but my dad lives near me and my mum lives about 100miles away now lol

My parents got married 18 years ago, but split up 2 years ago. I'm surprised that you can manage to put up with each other for 20 years and then just deciding to part ways... My Dad has a new partner, and my mum seems to have a new boyfriend every few months. They talk over the phone, but only because they have children.

Parents have been divorced for around 16 years, not unlike yours. My earliest memory is watching my dad drive away with some vague understanding that my parents weren't going to be together anymore. I have no memories of them being together.

My understanding of the divorce is that it was "irreconcilable differences", and I can understand that since they have very different personalities, but there was probably more to it. There must have been a straw that broke the camel's back so to speak but I'm unlikely to ever ask them about it; no point dredging up old, bad memories for them. I've never wanted them "back together" since I've never known them as anything other than divorced.

They don't talk. My mum still seems raw about it, even after all these years, and never speaks highly of my dad (which ironically lowers my opinion of her) if she speaks of him at all. He's a lot more aloof.

My parents aren't together. They broke up about 3 years after I was born, then my dad went to prison for 5 years so yup (y). :L

mine have been separated 9 years and i don't have a relationship with my dad, lets keep it at that. parents don't talk and not even his own family want anything to do with him. he still gives my mum money for us and me and my brothers money for bday/Christmas. I will never have a relationship with him again. my dad has a new girlfriend who i don't get on with and my mums only had one boyfriend since who was another cheat lol but rich too... & some people wonder why i don't believe in love and only money.. im actually more shocked when people say their parents are still together! & jealous but meh

Fair few mates parents are split, guess I am lucky.
