Default My toe nail came off.

Last year in November, I went out clubbing with some friends, and I had heels on and I badly damaged my big toe, when someone trodded on my toe and made me twist my ankle. Anyway, It went really black and was sore for weeks afterwards. I couldn't wear shoes, and I even needed to take time of College and work, because I couldn't walk.

Today, I was getting ready for work and put my sock on and what it felt like was my toe nail lifted up. So, I took my sock back off and it was pointing up the ways. My dad said to pull it off, which I did. (It didn't hurt)

What should I do now? There's no toe nail there. Do I wrap it up? Do I put cream on it? It doesn't hurt though. But, there is a hole line where the toe nail grows from.

This happened to me last march. About 3 weeks ago it came off. I just put a plaster loosly over it and its going fine so far. Just dont wrap it up so much that the nail hasn't got enough room to grow back c:

Still can't bend my toe ;l

I suppose you must have damaged the nerves if it doesn't hurt at all. Take it to your local GP as soon as you can and follow their advice. Until then, I'd suggest doing things like washing it in warm water every few hours, keeping it wrapped up during the day but keeping it open to "breathe" during the night. Be careful not to touch it or wear shoes as much as possible to prevent infection. If it does get infected, you should probably go either go down for an emergency appointment at your doctor's or even take it straight to A&E.

My lord, if you have a photo please don't post it without a spoiler or i might be sick

Anyway, I would have advised you to go to the doctors straight away due to the risk of infection, if you don't want to do that I suggest you keep it covered. If it does get infected, definitely go to the doctors.

I have a tendency to cut my nails and manage to take my smallest one off, it usually kills a lot but after I put a sock on it then it's usually fine. If it was me I would suggest that if you can wear shoes, wear socks with them that way it can grow back and air can get to it but as said in a previous reply a loose plaster should be fine too. I think if it's still bruised or looks weird take it to the doctor, if not then wait say a week or so and if it shows no signs of coming back again go to the doctor. I usually put cream on mine too.

omg this happened to my mum and it just came off in the bath (ew)
but it has been growing back and she's got like half a toe nail now i don't know if it'll grow anymore but she said it doesn't hurt anymore since it fell off so hopefully you won't get anymore pain and she's just carried on as usual, not wrapping it up or putting cream on or anything and it's been fine

I've had nail surgery twice and one time the nail has fallen off afterwards, another the whole nail was taken out.

From that all that I can say is that it isn't dangerous and it will grow back normally. To reduce the chance of infection you should have daily salt water footbaths (a handful of salt dissolved in a bowl of water) for no more than 10 mins a time.

If it's sore you might also want to put a small dressing on it. You could use a small plaster but in all the booklet things I have it says to use a tubular finger bandage over a low adhesive dressing, secured at the bottom with tape.

    Hope this helped
