ECW ~ House Party '98 Sandman vs Sabu

Many of you may not know that I'm quite the veteran wrestling couch potato. I was just watching Sandman vs Sabu from the House Party 98 ECW PPV (I have hundreds of wrestling DVDs/videos).

If you're interested in wrestling I tell you not to watch this match because it's amazing, it's just x10 better than I thought it was going to be. Also Taz vs 2 Cold Scorpio wasn't bad at this PPV either, I'm sure you can grab the DVD like I have or find the match on Youtube.

Jesus Christ I did not expect this thread ever to appear on HxF. I'm a big fan of pro wrestling, went to WrestleMania last year however ECW is my favourite promotion. Granted back in their day I didn't give them the respect that I do today because ECW was virtually non-existant over here but when I became familiar with the Internet and started learning about the old Eastern Championship Wrestling it really intrigued me and made ECW my favourite promotion of all time.

I wasn't too fond of Sandman, however. I loved Sabu and still do, saw him wrestle a match last year in Miami for DGUSA and he still does the crazy spots he did back in the day. I'll check this out if I can, I find it hard to watch poor quality VHS videos of ECW these days, seems more of a chore (not because of the quality of wrestling but the quality of recording) but I'll try and find out.

P.S - Joel Gertner is GOAT.

You'll probs find the match online. I have the DVD and the quality is still bad, but that's what ECW was all about.

Sabu actually broke his jaw in the match when he hit the guardrail with his chin - it sounds nasty! I watch a lot of wrestling but I never really went past 2004 with WWE. I have numerous TNA PPVs after 2004 and still watch it on occasion. I have been watching wrestling since 1997

Much respect for you Zak.
Grew up watching ECW(luckily my dad was into it back then), and I'm ever greatful for it. ECW was, is and always will be the best wrestling promotion.

The match in question was absolutely insane. Proper blood fest, Sandmans head wrapped in barbed wire, Sabu breaking his jaw and just basically taping it shut and carrying on. Epitomises everything ECW was.
