Default Nazi, age 98, is charged for War Crimes

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungarian prosecutors on Tuesday charged a 98-year-old man who tops the Nazi-hunting Simon Wiesenthal Center's wanted list with war crimes, saying he had helped to deport Jews to Auschwitz in World War Two.
Laszlo Csatary was found guilty in absentia in 1948 of whipping or torturing Jews and helping to deport them to the death camp while serving as police commander in the Nazi-occupied eastern Slovak city of Kosice in 1944.

He was charged on death, and was on the run until Hungarian authorities finally found and retrieved him.

Dont matter what you've done, it will always catch up to you sometime in life.

I was thinking the same. I didn't know whether to feel bad because he has been in hiding his whole life and most officers were forced to do these things to live.

However, this man now seeks retirement in hell.

And most officers did it for personal gain.

Either way he has to pay for his crimes but it is unlikely he will go to jail given his condition.

Yeah it's all good that the law is doing its job, but it's a bit stupid to make him spend his last moments etc *given his age I expect he doesn't have that long?* in jail..

    Idk.

It's good that they were still looking for him all these years later.

He's lucky he's even alive to even experience 'those last moments' - unlike his victims. A part of his punishment will be spending these last moments of his life in prison, and if you are a religious person alike myself (believing in an afterlife) you'll also believe that his punishment will continue after death when he meets his creator. That's justice.

Moors murderer Ian Brady is in his 70s now, should he be allowed out because he looks like a nice, caring old man? certainly not.

Well to be honest, Ian Brady is mentally ill so he should be kept there. Clearly.
I never said he SHOULDN'T go to jail for it, so stop accusing me of that, all I'm saying is that it's pointless.

The punishing of crimes, in this case a heinous crime, is pointless? Justice aka punishment is what a justice system is founded on.
