    Default HXHD RULE CLARIFICATION/DISCUSSUION [SERIOUS]

This thread isn't targeting anyone, so if you have a complaint about a specific staff member please PM the right people (samanfa + skynus i think).

I would just like clarification on rules because i feel they are unclear to some people despite being in effect years and only in recent weeks has there been problems with them.

    1) No longer allowed insult friends without warnings
    2) No longer allowed say filter words even if they aren't directed at anyone
    3) Racism not allowed but homophobia is
    4) If a staff member feels personalty victimized by something not directed at them they may issue a warning.

Since when is insulting/joking with friends no longer allowed with out warnings being issued. Is this a new rule?
Are filtered words no longer allowed to be used in the Help desk? i constantly see the word skype being throw around by staff. Racism not allowed but homophobia is?? Explain??
Staff bringing personal issues into HXHD. Does this mean i cant talk about the Holocaust in case there are any jewish staff members.

    THIS IS SERIOUS BTW
I WOULD LIKE SERIOUS REPLIES FROM MANAGEMENT

I cannot believe my thread was deleted. Do the moderators of this website support racial bigotry? I'm simply disgusted!

On Topic: Great thread! I completely agree. Everyone on the forum should read this.

Personally if you are having a joke with your friends and the person takes it as a joke I don't see an issue at all tbh. I was always told that you are allowed to use filtered words unless they are actually directed at someone else, unless things have changed? I don't even know. I think if it is a rule then the rules need to re-adjusted or changed slightly because otherwise it's too strict.

Yes... users and 90% of staff are going by one rule then some are going by another and its causing chaos !

To be quite honest if someone found it quite offensive i feel that they should have to balls to tell someone and let them know. If they receive a warning that is their thought no big deal they did not know they can carry on with their life. If they are constantly doing it for attention what do they expect. 3 warnings is enough. It takes 2 to get it through their head. The person who was being racist or whatever happened should at least accept the warning other then create drama in the room. Creating drama will not solve anything if they have a problem with the warning tell an admin or a HxHD manager. Screaming in the room will not solve anything as we can't do anything.

I've handed out several warnings for people saying homophobic things, as well as racist things, Neither of them are acceptable in any situation in my eyes

In my opinion if the person is having an issue with what is being said in the room then they should be speaking to HxHD staff however, if I go in there and start joking with a friend and the person isn't taking offense to it then why should they be warned for it? Unless they are being racist etc. I don't really think its fair to give people a warning for having a joke with friends.

Hey Graham I just PMed you back about this but I'll just repeat: I completely agree that having a joke with your friends that includes swearing or seemingly "offensive" inside jokes should be allowed, but sometimes it's hard for HxHD staff to tell the difference between a joke and an insult so I'm re-going over the rules in the Staff Handbook literally right now to make it crystal clear what is worth a warning and what is not.

In the meantime please try to remember that HxHD staff are people and not robots; we're going to make mistakes or not pick up on things and that's to be expected. If you think something was insulting or offensive just whisper to whoever is behind the desk to quietly let them know you're uncomfortable. Also remember that getting more upset/angry in the Help Desk or swearing (or similar) at our staff isn't going to do anything much except make the situation more frustrating for both you and us!
