    Default Job Interview

I got a call today as I applied for a job at Currys/PC World.

He asked several questions and asked if I could come in for an interview this Friday.
I agreed and he said he would email me some confirmation. He said about a '5 minute to impress'.

In the email it says this:

This activity is exactly what it sounds like. You will have 5 minutes to impress us! Sometimes you might leave an interview feeling like you haven’t had an opportunity to really sell yourself. We would like to give you the chance to really let us know who you are, what makes you special and unique, and why we simply must offer you the chance to join our team. There are no restrictions (but one... no PowerPoint please) – you can talk about / do anything you like whether it is work related or a passion outside of work.

I googled it and it said about some people sing, dance, etc... What do I do? I've nothing I can do! ha.

I did notice a daily mail article about a person who was told to dance to The Offices David dance. After he did that he felt degraded and embarrassed, oh and didn't get the job!

    What do I do!

Do the office dance, to show that you are willing to do what the employee tells you to do?

In all seriousness, do you not have a party trick? Like juggling?

b4 u said about the dancing/singing etc my interpretation was that u would just talk about why u would be right for the job in ur own words

Walk in and hand them this script, hopefully they'll have watched shawshank redemption and will clap uncontrollably after the scene.

Currys/PC World Interviewer: Kyle Smith, your files say you've never had a job. Do you feel like you're ready to be employed?

Kyle Smith: Employed? Well, now let me see. You know, I don't have any idea what that means.

Currys/PC World Interviewer: Well, it means that you'll be employed, a purpose...

Kyle Smith: I know what *you* think it means, sonny. To me it's just a made up word. A politician's word, so young fellas like yourself can wear a suit and a tie, and have a job. What do you really want to know? Am I sorry for being unemployed?

Currys/PC World Interviewer: Well, are you?

Kyle Smith: There's not a day goes by I don't feel regret. Not because I don't have a job, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was a week ago: a young, stupid kid who didn't try his best to get a job. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can't. That kid's long gone and this old man is all that's left. I got to live with that. Employed? It's just a ******** word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a ****.

I don't see why you need a party piece? lol? but if you're looking for one, I'd go for this:

    http://youtu.be/-W_C8R3JM9Y?t=1m13s

Although if I were you I wouldn't sing Matthew Brodericks part

In all seriousness, just sell yourself as much as you can, there's nothing wrong with telling them how amazing you are and that you are the best person out there at your job.

In all honesty the best thing to do is just to go in there and be yourself, I'm pretty sure them wanting you to "sell yourself" won't mean that they'll expect you to treat it like an X Factor audition, although I'm sure you bursting into song and dance would be rather amusing! Just think about why you're suited to their business, how will them hiring you be beneficial to their business, what can you offer? Just be confident, clear and coherent. Yes, I definitely need to become a teacher after saying that...

Just tell them you were time person of the year 2006. That is all. (Google it, it adds humour and it'll make them look into it)
