    Default Ditch the Label News

As one of the UK’s fastest growing and most innovative anti-bullying charities, we at Ditch the Label are incredibly passionate about developing new interventions and ways of helping young people overcome an issue that affects almost 70% of us: bullying.

Over the past 12 months, we have worked heavily within the Habbo community as a way of engaging anonymously with young people across the world who are troubled by bullying either online or offline. We have supported thousands through our Infobus sessions and one-to-one mentorship and have worked heavily with the community to build awareness campaigns surrounding issues such as mental health, cyber bullying and self-harm.

As a relatively new charity in the UK, we are still learning and are finding our feet in a wide range of different areas. Several months ago, we launched an exciting promotion in conjunction with Habbo that rewarded users for purchasing official Ditch the Label merchandise as a way of donating to our charity. Unfortunately, over a series of days it emerged that our online store had been compromised and as a result, some customer information was accessible to third parties without our knowledge or consent.

As a result, we revamped our on site security, moved the store over to a new platform and emailed security advice to each customer individually. We also logged the incident with Action Fraud, the Police and the Information Commissioners Office.

We are sure that some of you may be able to relate to our experience with internet hackers and will understand that it can be an incredibly scary process and is often difficult to know how to best respond. Whilst we responded appropriately external to Habbo, we would like to issue an apology to any Habbos’ affected by the incident and would also like to apologise for the poor communication at the time.

Please be advised that we take your personal safety and privacy incredibly seriously and we hope that you can understand that this situation was beyond our control. As a result, we have learnt a great deal and look forward to joining the Habbo community again.

Please note that we will still be honouring orders with the HABBO discount code and new orders are unaffected by this incident. Unique redemption codes and instructions are sent out to you with your order and should be received within 5 working days in the UK and within 21 working days internationally.

If you have any problems with your order or have any further questions surrounding this issue, please do not hesitate to contact us via our website.

Sending you loads of positive vibes from the Ditch the Label head offices and we will see you in game!

They make it sound like they were hacked yet it was a fault in the system they were using auto-filled in information boxes for visitors to that site. Not to mention they were informed about it, yet refused to believe it.

Okay firstly didn't this happen ages ago? Shouldn't this statement have been released as soon as the issue became available so users could avoid DTL purchases till it was safe I mean they obviously knew about the issue and didn't do anything.

Can someone please explain to me the relationship between DLT and Sulake? Are Sulake getting paid to endorse DTL or? Surely they should have cut all ties with this company by now..

hahaha they're still pedalling the 'hacker' crap? They should not longer be associated with habbo whatsoever, this is just a regurgitation of lies they've told in the past and it doesn't really look like they're doing anything to sort out their problems or even compensate those affected. In fact, I still haven't received an order I placed almost 2 months ago. So much for first class!

Well as this thread shows their reputation on Habbo is completely destroyed.

They had the right idea with this post but:

    1) Apologising for communication and then communicating something months later...

    2) Using first few paragraphs to advertise themselves and hiding the important information in a body of text.

    3) Then they say we can relate to it. Maybe we can. We are not an organisation. We are young people. It was kind of "you've all probably been hacked before, so now we have too - it happens." Doesn't wash with me.

    More rubbish from DTL.

The whole campaign was pretty poor on their part.

As a result, we have learnt a great deal and look forward to joining the Habbo community again.
Doubt anyone will be welcoming them back with open arms either. As long as everyone gets the items they've paid for and no further details are leaked, like promised, then that's the main thing.
