    Default Post Reports - Comments

Can you get your moderators (well I've only ever encountered 1 with the issue) to actually comment on post reports.

Several times I've had a moderator comment "N/A" and do nothing, this gives absolutely no reason as to why they feel the report is wrong, or why they feel they should do nothing regarding the situation.

What's the point in a comment section, if you're not going to comment?

It's even less useful when they mark it as N/A then ignore any further communication (pm/vm) questioning their response.

    Members report the post.
Moderators decide what action to take on the post, they don't need to feedback to the reporting user about what action has been taken, at least I haven't been told otherwise anyway.

Even moderators get things wrong. It'd make sense to leave a note as to why you're not doing anything about the said issue.

Sure, but if we do then you should get in touch with one of the managers and then it will feed down and be corrected

Or it could be made into a post in the feedback forum and the correct action be taken.

It just seems plain lazy to leave no comment as to why action was or was not taken and it shouldn't be the member's place to have to keep messaging management to find out answers when moderators could have left a comment in the first place.

Well it seems every other member of the department (well smods) understand what the 'comment' section means, and actually comment on reports.

I understand why they don't do it, it'd probably discourage them from doing anything because they know they have to fill out feedback every single time they do an action which would be a pain for anybody...

it'd be nice don't get me wrong but I understand why

But it isn't your right to know what action was or wasn't taken and why? Otherwise, everyone would just be allowed to see eachothers usernotes. The post report system is simply to alert the moderation team of a rule break and then let them deal with it. If you have a problem with the way a moderator has dealt with an issue (or hasn't) then you should report that issue to the manager(s).

If a DJ cursed on air and you reported it, would you expect to hear about how they got dealt with? That's just one example but in general you wouldn't.

I never get to see those, so I wouldn't know. With that, our handbook doesn't have any detailed best practice method so we adopt our own ways of replying to things.

It's just lazyness really, there's no reason not to

I'd imagine like 90% of reports will be valid so the typicaly "Thanks ~ Mod" or "Sorted ~ Mod" will suffice, but when you feel it's wrong all you need to do is "I feel as though this is a more suitable location ~ Mod", "I don't feel like its gone far enough to break the rules ~ Mod" or even clarify the rules if they reported wrong.

It's not hard to take 10 seconds to give a comment instead of just putting N/A if you're gonna do nothing.

And any PM regarding N/A should definitely be responses to, as there's no excuse really.

I'm not asking to know the action, as I said if the report is fine a Thanks/Sorted will suffice.

If you're not going to do anything then a N/A will not suffice, as we're left in the dark as to why you've done nothing.

I've never had an N/A comment put onto the post reports section? Is it a certain mod or all of them doing it.

P.s. the "members dont need to know an outcome" is an awful approach to take lol
