Default Which social class would you say you are?

The social classes are becoming harder and harder to define as a more diverse society means there are more factors involved than simply money and heritage. So now, it's really up to you about whether you'd define yourself working class or not.

So which social class would you say you are (or you're closest to)?

I find this a difficult question to answer. I live in a middle class area in a comparatively large house (bought 32 years ago by my parents for the whopping price of £132,000 before this area became a desirable place to live) with parents who are/were technically professionals. But now we live partly off of state benefits, partly from my grandma's pension and partly from my mum's wage as a part time teacher. So it's really annoying because I think definite working class people would argue that we're middle class, but middle class people definitely wouldn't want us either. Which social class do you come under?

I think the boundaries are blurring a lot, it's not so clear-cut X Y Z any more, but I'm some sort of lower middle class

Doesn't mean you have to agree with the results

I'm asking where you THINK you belong.

Edit: just taken the test and apparently I'm a new affluent worker who's come from a working class background which is inaccurate imo.

Mine came out as 'Established middle class'
I live in a very working class area but my family, we would class ourselves as maybe actually middle class because of like what we work as, what we earn, what we have

As a student I consider myself classless. My background is lower middle class but it could go either way from there.

According to that test I'm an emergent service worker, fairly close to precariat though. Just cos I'm young and in my first job I guess. I'm from a decent background though so yeah. I don't really consider myself in a particular class though, don't really see any point.

My test came out as established middle class, I'd say I was low middle class if I was to judge myself. Although I'm from Newport, I'm actually from quite a well off part of it. +rep to my parents.

Well my test comes out with

Result: the class group you most closely match is:

    Precariat

This is the poorest and most deprived class group. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group:

Tend to mix socially with people like themselves
Come from a working class background
Rent their home - over 80%

I don't know really. I don't think about social class too much, our family isn't exactly the wealthiest but we all get by. I would imagine (and hope..) as I age I get closer to middle class
