Do you believe Western Globalisation is an unstoppable force?

Western Globalisation has been growing at a rapid rate over the past forty years, and seems to be an unstoppable force, where the world will gradually become more and more 'Westernised'. This means that cultures, foods, drinks, architecture etcetera will gradually all be rather similar, no matter on where you go. For example, go to a city centre in America, England and Sydney and you'll find exactly the same shops and food outlets (obviously with exceptions).

So, do you believe that Western Globalisation will continue for decades to come, or do you think another power (perhaps populations fighting homogenisation) will stop the world gradually becoming more and more similar?

All culture evolves constantly, and there are always regional differences and personal varieties even when things might look similar on the outside

Cultures expand and contract all the time. At the moment Western Culture is, in my view at least, contracting in some areas (particularly Africa and Middle East) due to conflicts which are reinforcing national, regional or individual cultures. That said, some areas accept Western cultures more than others. China and other East Asia countries are adopting Western Culture as it seems fresh and way out there, completely different to their traditional values of humility and peacefulness. The only thing that really divides culture is food. Some countries really do not accept Western food, such as Southern Asia (Singapore, Malaysia etc) where they focus on fish and simple dishes, as burgers, pizza and many potato dishes are just uninteresting to them. They prefer light, simple foods, compared to fatty, starchy foods.

It all depends in what shape Western culture comes. Music, film and "popular" culture are adopted, but social (drinking, gender equality, sexual equality, family core values etc) are difficult to get into Eastern cultures.
