    Default Car Insurance

So I passed my driving test about a week ago! I probably wont be getting a car for awhile now but I've been looking to see if there's any I like. I came across a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 FSI Sport 5dr but I'm worried the insurance will be really high considering it's a 1.6 litre & is described as a sport car I've also been looking at polo's but I think I prefer the Golf, it seems so much better. I'm pretty useless when it comes to cars tbh.

I know there's a thread on what car you have but can any one with a 1.6 litre car or "sport" car give me a rough idea on what their insurance costs? I know insurance is different depending on age ect but I only want a rough idea I'm also 19.

I would do one of those quotes but I haven't received my Driving Licence card yet & they ask details I don't know.

If you think the car choice isn't a good one, what car do you suggest? Under £3,000

(I hope I don't sound like an idiot lol!)

anything with sport in it as your first car will hugely increase the price.

they don't ask for details on your driving license, some ask you for your number but its optional. you can fill in quotes on moneysupermarket/comparethemarket etc without having a driving license through the door.

honestly for your first car go with a cheaper car with smaller engine cause you'll probably crash it

I just don't want to pay over £2000 insurance and oh I didn't realise it was an optional section, I'll try it again. I'll probably crash it? Don't scare me lol!

I can't remember the stats but I'm sure majority of new drivers crash in their first year.

Where do you live sibel? Cos they look at your postcode statistics so if you live in an area with high car crime or crime in general the quotes go up sooo much

My quotes have always been around £1400 even for 1.4's so it's mad yours are so high! Are you looking at really old cars with super high mileage?

Infact send me a link on sk of one of the cars you're looking at and I'll see if my quotes are the same
