Depending on how you define the ego
what is your opinion on it?

    Good or bad?
    Controlling?
    etcetc

I guess no one cares about the ego?

maybe I should have said do you believe that TECHNICALLY(?) the ego is just an illusion and your whole identity is just built on stuff like your beliefs, past experience, memories and what you consider the rules of life

Eg, Yes is yes, No is No. Bad is Bad. Good is Good etcetc

When you were a baby you didn't know any of that stuff.. like What is life? What am I? Who am I? Hell the feeling of being able to understand what "I" or "Me" means probably doesn't exist at that age

without those things which give you that identity which makes you different from everyone else.. Who are you? Would you say that you REALLY exist at that moment?

or are you just consciousness swimming in an ocean, just experiencing the universe as part of the universe (whatever that would feel like for a baby)

I personally feel that my ego was developed through my parent's technique on raising us. It grew in a way to be more group oriented, that it wasn't all about myself in a way.
I guess my parents helped me alot to find my ego. They displayed theirs as something to be humble about, something to cherish and to be different, so I learned from them. In my situation, I think my ego turned out to be good, I know I have slip ups because of natural causes/influences such as; Friends, school, social media, etc.

But all, in all, I personally feel that with correct/proper nurturing anyone's ego can be developed into something beautiful. I guess it comes down to whether or not you're willing to invest in someone else's ego.
