Yes, this is actually happening. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which shares a border with the State of Qatar, is going to basically dig a massive canal and turn Qatar into an island country - because it is majorly pissed off at Qatar.

after living in Qatar for the best part of two years, I know why they aren't willing to back down. The community is very strict, they're always right and nothing in reality will change for a long long time.
