UK Rollercoasters STINK

It has to be said, when it comes to rollercoasters and thrill rides, the UK really stinks. Most are over before they've even begun.

I'm not saying the USA hasn't got it's fair share of rubbish. But most of them are at least worth waiting in line for. Oh no. Sorry - that's more a UK thing again. Yes there are lines in the USA too, but they don't last long.

Dare I even mention admission prices? Season Passes? Free Beer?

OK yes I am very biased. But you would be too if you had ventured onto some of the great rides the USA has to offer.

Busch Gardens rocks my socks - and now they have more frightening rides!

Alton Towers is so 1979... (has a lovely garden though)

Yeah agree about Alton towers - and the rides being over before they begun. It's really dissapointing when you wait in an excess of 2/3 hours for about a 4 minute ride! Especially one you go on and end up dissapointed. Gonna go to America for my 21st so i'll visit those places too!

yeah, I agree that none of the rides at alton towers are scary, but they're still fun I like nemesis because of the theming ;o and I just like ripsaw ;p
I was looking at the sixflags website earlier, because im going to six flags magic mountain for my birthday the rides are DEFINATLY 100% more scary there, but the theming is absolutly rubbish at american parks, some rides dont even have any theming on them ;o and undersiable please dont tell me you queued 2/3 hours for a ride ;o
when I go in the weekdays I can walk on most of the rides without queuing ;p

Yeah, I agree that the USA has way better rides but there are some good ones in the UK. The only thing that really bugs me about parks in America (and it can't be helped) is the massive queues. Its really annoying when you're stood in a huge line in hot and stuffy weather, but I guess thats what the water spraying fans are there for...

. The Uk may only have a couple of world record breaking coasters. But things like Nemesis has said to have been more fun than Kingda Ka. I don't think season passes are too bad, £80 for unlimited visits to Cwoa, Thorpe Park alton tower, madam Tussauds and the plaiterium doesn't sound too bad to me! The UK has alot of World firsts as well, including Colossus (most inversions), first flying coaster, first vertical dorp, first inverted etc, etc.

^^. you've got a good point there
We probably don't have many recent records because not many theme parks in the UK build rides with mega fast speeds heights etc...
But it doesn't mean that they're bad rides, they all seem pretty good to me ;p
and the theming on rides in the UK is fantastic ;o

America generally has better rides because:

• They have more land, meaning easier planning permission for large rides.
• Everything is cheaper, something to do with the dollar.

I always notice that the theming on american rides, [or some of them] is rubbish ;p, take six flags for example, most of the rollercoasters are just put in the middle of a park and left there without adding theming or anything ;p
