    Default Hamster Problems

    Hey i have a problem well i have 2 hamsters and they are both coming up to 4 years in 2 months time now one of them has quite a large lump on there cheek we thought it was just a piece of food stuck but it hasnt gone away in 2 days now and im getting worried is it a tuma or cancer (can hamsters get cancer) and should i take him to a vet ?

    also another prob is the other hamster keep taking its food up to its bed and its packed we clean em out every day lol as its getting that bad even 1 night just 1night we didnt clean him out and next day he had a wet bottom and fur how can i stop this? it also looked like the bottom end of his body was twice the size of the other

    do you mean his fur on his "bottom" is all wet?

    It's probably just getting hot, it might hibernate because my hamster did that when it sweated.
    As for the lump in it's cheek, it may just be a piece of food stuck there so try feeling it gently and if it doesn't move at all or doesn't feel like food then take him to the vets straight away.

    k um my other hamsters did that all the time.. when they take food to its bed its because if they wake up and they're hungry they could just eat that.. and um about him having a wet bottom its either when they used the washroom they like sat in it or its probably because he was cleaning himself and he got it wet there, or he went over to where his water is and his bottom got in it. and if its twice the size of the other, its a boy. lol.

    It's sweat. They get really hot if they are kept in a plastic cage / surrounding and in wool.

    mine was never in a plastic cage and was never surrounded by wool.
