Today is the Holocaust Memorial Day, of the World War II.

"Holocaust" is a word of Greek origin meaning "sacrifice by fire. A disaster.

The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.

The Nazis, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were "life unworthy of life."

Other groups were persecuted on political and behavioral grounds, among them Communists, Socialists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and homosexuals.

Before beginning the war in 1939, the Nazis established concentration camps to imprison Jews, Roma, other victims of ethnic and racial hatred, and political opponents of Nazism. During the war years, the Nazis and their collaborators created ghettos, transit camps, and forced-labor camps. Following the invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, Einsatzgruppen (mobile killing units) carried out mass-murder operations against Jews, Roma, and Soviet state and Communist party officials. More than a million Jewish men, women, and children were murdered by these units. Between 1942 and 1944, Nazi Germany deported millions more Jews from the occupied territories to extermination camps, where they murdered them in specially developed killing facilities.

In the final months of the war, SS guards forced camp inmates on death marches in an attempt to prevent the Allied liberation of large numbers of prisoners. As Allied forces moved across Europe in a series of offensives on Germany, they began to encounter and liberate concentration camp prisoners, many of whom had survived the death marches. World War II ended in Europe with the unconditional surrender of German armed forces in the west on May 7 and in the east on May 9, 1945.

In the aftermath of the Holocaust, many of the survivors found shelter in displaced persons (DP) camps administered by the Allied powers. Between 1948 and 1951, almost 700,000 Jews emigrated to Israel, including more than two-thirds of the Jewish displaced persons in Europe. Others emigrated to the United States and other nations. The last DP camp closed in 1957. The crimes committed during the Holocaust devastated most European Jewish communities.

Why i'm telling you this - you think?
Well, because I am a Jew, living in Israel.

And at this days, people don't even seem to think about all this war, and not taking it on proportions. This days, you know, the Iranian presidant keep inflame many many people against the Jews, and against the Holocaust exsistance. He believes, that this Holocaust have never happened, and he have made a committee to check if it really happend as it was. How distorted can this person be?! for god sake! people have been KILLED there. And now he wants this to happen again?

Anyway, back to the topic, at this terror war, All my dad's family have been killed in different crazy and horrid ways. Only my grandma has succeed to escape and die peacely in Israel. Only think about this huge amount - 6 millions of people! Getting killed and having thousands of humiliation kinds for no reason. Only for having a different religion. How racist this world could get?

As much as I may laugh at the expense of Jews [most notably South Park, and the mis-heard chorus of Bandages by Hot Hot Heat] I think it is quite sickening what the Germans did to them, so RIP to all the victims I guess.

What the Nazi's did were shocking. I've seen a video in History about the concentration camps, sickening.
The Pianist is a good film, gives you a feel of what the Nazis did.

Ok, don't flame me till you've read ALL of this comment, ok, the Jews thing is abit blown up, no offence, I mean it was really bad what happend, and it was wrong BUT, there's 1 or 2 days in memory of it yes, well, why is there no day for the salem witch trails, load's of Wiccan's were burnt alive back then for there religion, just like with hitler and the jews, rant over
