    when i try to connect and obtain ip address it just times out ;[

    Thats what sometimes happens to me, I tryed connecting to the internet while the psp is charging...

    That worked so...

    Either your internet contains a security wall which is usually called WEP or your psp is naffed! lol, check out your router properties or make another connection on your psp and try again.

    Check your router settings psp doesnt fall under same internet connection status as comps

    Make sure your MAC address(for psp) is on your routers collected ones.

    Make sure:-

    1. You have the right name in i.e. mine is calz for my network
    2. make sure you have entered your wep key (if you have one)

    Possibly you may need to configure your router to let your psp connect or try seeking help on the official sony forums.

    Make sure that the router doesn't have passwords or anything on it.

    And also make sure your not outside the routers range...
