That happened to two of my three dogs.
My brother was walking with his dog down to the baseball field to play baseball and a putbull came out of nowhere and chased my brother dog under a car and was totally ripping our dog up.
My brother was luckily carrying a baseball abt and was hitingthe dog as hard as her could with the abt, and it wasn't even phasing the dog.
The dog ende dup running away and our dog had to undergo surgery for stitching it's stomach back together, and fixing the muscle in its leg.
Mind you pitbulls are dogs that were creating by humans, for the job of fighting.
They have an agressive behavior and keep a good eye on yoru dog at all times.
