    Normally hard disk manufacturers define a gigabyte as 1,000,000,000 bytes, although sometimes a gigabyte is defined as 1,073,741,824 bytes. A megabyte is normally defined as 1,000,000 bytes by hard disk manufacturers, but sometimes is defined as 1,048,576 bytes.
