I personally feel that layout 2 looks best, as it is lighter. As your second layout is simple, you will need to add images and good content for the viewer to stay on your website. I'm not too keen on the banner on the second one, but I thought I best not go into that as you may be changing it anyway.
The reason I dislike template one is because it is too dark and boring, basically. But yet again, the first layout includes an image, whereas the second doesn't. Another problem I find with the first layout, is the stroke on the font, which I think drag's the template down.
My overall opinion is 'Layout 2'
