Why do some domains cost more then others?
.co.uk is normaly very cheap, .com, .net, .info, and common domains like that are normaly under £10, but then you have .tv whats a bit more and then theres domains like .fm whats £100s.

It depends on the operator that runs them. The body that the country creates to run the TLD gets to choose the price.

They stand for different things though don't they... not that anyone pays attention:
co.uk is meant to be company in the UK
.net is general
.org is organisation
.com is company USA
It's probably something to do with what they are for.
I think that the ones listed above are the most useful though.
I got a .co.uk recently for £5.80 for 2 years.
