Default What age is right to have sex?

Right well as you know, the rules of this forum has changed.. thanks to.. well me nagging Matt tbh

So, I thought i'd start up the first discussion abiding by the new rules

What is the right age for people to start having sexual relationships, or as it is so often nowadays just sex?

Obviously the legal age is 16, but in all honesty this is rarely listened to, as we all know.. the Government are actually more bothered about preventing teenage pregnancies therefore there is more of a push for "safe sex" than ban underage sex.

I think the legal age is about right to be honest, a lot of people I know that lost it younger regret it..

    What do you lot think?

I think the age for gay sex should be 16 (which it currently is)

And for straight sex it should be 18+. I say this because alot of 16-17 year olds won't have that much experience of looking after their own and may need parenting classes. Also they would have to drop outta college/school to look after the kid while their parent
    (s) are at work.

Well, with the gay/straight argument - No. Simply no. Wouldnt work..

I think that instead of pushing the 16+ Rule, they should think about the fact that DOES ANYONE TAKE ANY NOTICE?

Instead, they should promote Safety more.

Those people are plain stupid. Even if they've been drinking.

And yeah, People do. But many people dont for reasons like - They are too 'ard (Stupid) OR They have a valid reason - Birth control, Clear of STDs.

I agree, some people dont, But a large majority do.

Lol why the hell would you make gay sex stay younger and straight sex older? That's just weird.

    Exactly..?

    And its Sexuality discrimination.

But couldnt people claim they are homosexual JUST to have 'Underage' sex? - You cant prove if someones Gay or straight really..

Also, People become sexually active at different times.. And if they are sensible about it, Know what they are getting themselves into AND know the risks and how to solve problems.. Why not.. I mean.. Yeah.. Young people (12 -) Cant really make good enough decisions on things like this, I mean you do need knowledge and be with someone you trust enough to share it with..

That's not true at all. Most people will wear a condom, which is good.

The Government have realised that most people don't pay attention to the law, hence why it is only enforced if one of the sexual partners is over 16 and the other under.

But they do promote safe sex, with schemes like the "C Card" and free condoms in most doctors clinics etc.
