Default Robson and Kidd set for Blades job

    source:timesonline.co.uk

Relegated Sheffield United are expected to name the former England skipper Bryan Robson as their new manager on Tuesday with Brian Kidd as his assistant.

Neil Warnock resigned last week as United manager following the 2-1 home defeat against Wigan Athletic that confirmed the Blades' relegation from the Premiership.

Robson immediately emerged as one of the front runners, having won promotion to the Premiership with Middlesbrough in 1995 and 1998. He successfully kept West Bromwich Albion in the top flight in 2005 but they were relegated last year and Robson left the club after a disappointing start to the next campaign.

"I said from when I left West Brom in October that I'd like to get back into the game," Robson said. "I enjoy the management side and the coaching of the players. Sheffield United are a big club and that's the type of challenge that I would be looking for."

McCall is expected to take over as Bradford City boss, replacing caretaker David Wetherall. The Scot was overlooked for the Blades post along with Chris Coleman, the former Fulham manager.
