    Default Push-Ups

I'm 13 and I do exercise whenever I can (Kind of obsessed with gettin rid of "puppy fat") but I can't do push-ups. I only weigh 7st and I'm not weedy or anything. I do karate and I can punch very hard, so my bi's and tri's are ok but I can't do proper push-ups. If I wasn't worn out and I was hyper I could do 10 proper ones non-stop but I can't do many. (Proper being body straight, nose touching the floor) Anyone else find them difficult?

Obviously you know nothing about how karate works. not attempting to blow my own trumpet, but I fight for national british karate, wado-ryu, karate is NOT about strength, if you thinking karate will make you have a hard punch, you are ABSOLUTELY wrong. What you need to do is go to boxing class.

My advice on push-ups is well uhm you know.. well. PRACTICE, if you were a good karate 'player' you would know that, 10x over. if you can't lift yourself up, go lift weights.

Karate is about speed and agility, watch the world tournaments, they don't wind people and make them vomit, karate is a game of tag, not a stupid game of sheer strength to prove you are god all mighty.

Being able to do 10 push ups flat out, chin touching is a very good start, i'm sure you know how to make it better, do more of them, I enjoy testing my abilitys, I enjoy fighting people I know I get my *** WOOPED by.. it's fun, try it

Don't make your nose touch the floor, head looking forwards, make sure you CHIN touches the floor.

Karate is more about techniques than physical strength... But yes, having more strengh would be a bonus...

Tbh, it's weird but I'm extremly athletic and I have really good upperbody strength when it comes to lifting things up and climbing etc. But I'm with you, I suck at pushups. The only way to get better at them, is to keep doing them.

My PE teacher said, to get used to the body movement of push ups etc do it with your knees on the floor, it doesnt get you fit or anything it is just like a "starter" or warm-up to ge tused to them

your only 13, so ure muscles will naturaly get bigger and stronger over time without doing much. i remeber when i struggled to do a single push up when i was about ure age, then i tried them when i was older and voila i could do them with ease.

I don't understand, push-ups aren't hard and your strength is usually relative to your overall weight so you should be able to do them anyway.
