Sit down and look at your self infront of a mirror like 2hours before you gotta start and act out your play on your scenes w/e and you will see wot you look like
its wot i done in year 4 for the xmas play i was acting as jospeh or w/e its spelt
(H)
Really if your confidence ain't that good why are you in the Drama club? I'd either reconsider staying in the club or get lots and lots of practise. Also if you do get it wrong it makes the audience laugh and everyone makes mistakes and it will be over in a few minutes! Just do what ever you decide is best and good luck!
you are going to look like an idiot, if you have no confidence and can't even say the lines, quit whilst you're ahead.
i'm in the drama club.
i used to be like you when i started out in the drama club in my first year. i really knew nothing about drama. i was really nervous, i couldn't act well because i felt people were gonna make fun of me. but this is my second year, and i've learnt that drama is something you can't be nervous about.
let me take the example of my recent play. last month, i did a play on a twisted. dumb version of rapunzel. i was the prince. as for the girl who was given the part of rapunzel, she was like you, i guess, she was really scared, really nervous. there was this scene where she had to 'cry' into my eyes, but she wouldn't do it. she wouldn't do alot of things, and thus, we had to keep editting the script to suit her wants.
all i'm saying is, don't think of acting as a scary thing, it's fun to do a play. people are gonna make fun of you if you don't act well. thus, you really need to get it together, don't always think about getting embarrassed and being made fun of. when you're in a play, you're not you, you're your character. so act like your character, BE your character, don't act like yourself. don't be so body-contitious (sp?). learn to open up, practice. the thing is, you must change your mindset. you're on stage, not because you want to humiliate yourself, but because you want to perform and entertain the audience.
we're making a sequel to the rapunzel play, and i have to cry and scream like a girl in one part. but i don't care, i think it's great to be able to act. don't waste this opportunity. good luck on your play! it just takes alot of courage and practice, but i'm sure you'll do fine. just don't back out!
