Default Should our state be secular?

Do you agree with the Queen being head of the Anglican Church? Why does our monarch have to be considered "Defender of the Faith"? Other secular states like Turkey are far more religious, and even if you were to argue that this country is religious, it hardly seems fair for the monarch to only represent one religion.

It is fair for the Monarch to represent one religion, we our Christian mainly, so we're a Christian country, most of our laws and democratic systems are based on Christian Values.

I believe we should keep the Monarchy going, but not keep giving them stupidly massive amounts of money.

So you want our Christian Queen to represent all religions? I don't get the question quite, but if that's it then no.

If we have to keep the Queen, I'd prefer it if she didn't represent any religion.

SHame traditions are dying out. Christmas is ruined now, no santa stamps and not to mention singing carols is banned in most schools.

Why not? If you want this country to be "open" as you probably do then how would telling someone not to believe in something help?

I'm not saying you should tell people not to believe in something. I'm saying that I don't think we should have an 'official' religion, when there are other religions well-represented in the country.

But not as well represented as Christianity. We are a Christian country and I'm afraid that'll how it'll be.

Sorry forgot to add the countless atheists in my previous posts. Would be interesting to see statistics, but surely there are fewer christians than there are atheists, muslims, hindus, jews, sikhs and so on.

The results indicate that Britain remains a Christian country, at least in terms of religious affiliation. In the 2001-APR-29 census, out of a total population of 58.79 million:

Religion Number (in millions) % of total population
    Christianity 42.079 71.6%
No religion (Incl. Jedi) 9.10 15.5
