Every time i try and use my hd cable I get either a green screen or no visual imput, anyone know what im doing wrong ?

Are you connecting the correct Jacks to the correct outlets?
Is it a component or composite cable?

i am 95% sure i am and i have no idea about the cable, it came with the 360
