    Default Agh...

OK, I'm in a big dilemma. I'll cut it short, if I can.

My family moved to Spain (including me), mum and dad split up. Mum and 3 brothers went back to England, I stayed with my dad in Spain. I go to a Spanish school and it's OK, not great but OK... I have friends etc. Then, my dad got a girlfriend in the south of spain, and we might be moving there... but I don't want to change school. I couldn't deal with it, it's pretty hard. My choices are go back to the UK or move school. (We might not be moving, but 80% that we are...)

However - I finished school in the UK in year 9, and didn't learn anything for a year in Spanish school, so now I should be in year 10 in the UK. However, I missed the year as I said and I didn't do SATS... will I be kept back a year if I go back or will they let me do the SATS and put me up in year 10? Or would they let me up anyway? I'm not stupid, but I haven't learnt anything for a year (learning Spanish language)... So yeah, what should I do? I'll miss my dad and the pet dog, and the county Spain... I like the UK in some ways, others I don't and I'd have to live with my mum... I don't like her much.

Anybody got any advice - and please, can somebody tell me what they'd do with school (me being kept back or not?) if anybody knows.

    +REP to good replies...

if you move to the south of spain it might be difficult because you still havent fully learnt spanish and youll end up getting new tutors and everything.

My guess is that if you move to the uk they will hold you back, but its no big deal its not an embaressing excuse or anything. However your dads feelings may be a little hurt and if you dont like your mum its a big downer

if i were you id stay in spain providing you can speak ok spanish and you like the country because i cant stand hot countries :p

Well, I missed mot of year 9 ue to being expelled and my PRU took the **** getting me into a different school. I also missed my SATS. I got put straight into year 10 and didn't have to do any SATS or what not. Luckily im not dumb so i have managed to pull most of it back and im now in year 11

If i was in your position i would want to be in england. But thats just my opinion.

Hmm, I'm so confused and unsure. >.< agh, it's annoying.

    Good points in Spain:
    Be with my dad
    I'm used to it
    Weather etc

    Good points of the UK:
    With brothers
Better education (I'd say cos my Spanish isn't great)
    Work pays more

    Bad points of Spain:
    Language (I will learn though)
    School (put back one year)
Moving school - I just don't want to.

    Bad points of the UK:
    Weather - but tbh I don't care
    Lifestyle
    Living with my mum
    Not with my dad
    Will feel so weird

    ---------------------------

BTW, my mum caused all of this by cheating on my dad :x

Could somebody find out for me if I'd be kept back or not? If I'm not kept back I will probably go to the UK... it's so confusing.

I have to talk to her sometimes or else I can't talk to my brothers, and still she's a loving mother - but she ruined everybody's life for a drunken, workshy loser. (That's what the guy she cheated with is!) :@

The work in the UK only pays more because things cost more, and taxes are still rising. You will be better off in Espana mate.

True, but prices of houses in Spain equal the UK, but Spain get less pay. Then again that'd go down and up and down, so hmm.

Meh, I dunno. If my dad hadn't of met this woman I wouldn't have to decide.

TBH, if I decide to leave I think it'd break him and he wouldn't want me to go.

I just don't want to move schools to the south, I'm settled where I am. Then all the other aspects come into play.

I've had a friend who's been in almost exactly the same situation. He had to get moved down a year when he came back to England. He still saw all his old friends all the time though, and he seemed to enjoy himself with the younger kids.

If it were me, I'd come back to England. If you don't now, you probably will for university etc later.
