Repping 5 People a Day

I am not starting a new rep thread but this is what I think is a potential flaw in the new system.

I have been posting as normal on the site and repping as I usually do.

Some people I can but most people I can't because:

1. 5 reps a day is not nearly enough for a large forum like this.

2. Its going to take ages to rep the people on my list.

The problem with this is that by the time I can actually do it I will have forgotten the posts I was repping them on so what do I put - something like 'great post a couple of weeks ago' as I am certain that it could take that long. If I put that it could be seen as pointless rep. Other than that I will have to make a notepad file of all the posts and I don't think we should be expected to do that.

Whatever happens there is always going to be people that you rep more than others because of the quality of their posts and to be only able to rep them every 7 days or 30 other reps is not going to work also means that the intention of the rep system is not going to be fulfilled either.

Would you consider being a bit more lenient on this part please and allowing us to rep more a day and cut the amount of people from 30 down so we don't have to constantly spread?

I just set this up as a continuation of Catzy's thread. This concerns the having a limit of repping 5 people a day.

Do you think it should be raised back to 10?
Do you think it should stay the same?

Feel free to post below by saying WHY you think each one. I really don't want this thread to become what the others are and having people arguing, spamming, etc.
This thread is to simply voice your opinion, nothing else.
Please don't say "I don't care" or something like that.. because in this thread that doesn't matter. It's either a yes or a no.

I don't really rep people but I can see what you mean. you should get atleast 10 if not more.

In your case it does seema bit low as I can see how it stacks up. To be honest I've only repped about 3 people since the change which is alot less than before so it's abit like the new system has discouraged me from handing out rep willy nilly but then again if we can only give out 5 a day we are going to use them carefully , Interesting point though.

why doesn't the amount you can rep tie in with user ranks?

like rank1 can rep 5 people
rank 2 can rep 6..

etc

I have never repped anybody that I didn't think deserved a rep and do not hand them out willy nilly. Thanks

I don't really have a problem with the new rep system, but really it's exactly like the old.. except instead of like. 1000 rep points being 7 rep or w/e it is, its lower.

Like you pointed out though.. the only real problem I have with it is repping 5 people within 24 hours. It shouldn't have moved that down from 10. If it was going to be moved, it shoulda been raised up more imo.

Yeah, the 5 people per day thing is really annoying. As if you genuienly wanted to give valid reputation out to good well thought out decent posts on the forum like I and i'm sure other people tend to you see way more then five per day. I think you should be able to rep at least 10 people per day and I agree they should consider upping the number as it gets rather annoying when you constantly see 'You've given too much rep out'.

I don't think you can do that. Howver nice idea.

I think the reputation system should be renewed. It's something i don't agree on. However, it's up to forum management.

They lowered the amount of times you can rep members a day? Lol oh dear, who's crazy idea was that? A forum which has nearly 1000 users a day, and they only allow 5 people to receive rep from a single member? What a crazy and thoughtless number... No thought has clearly been put into this.

I think that their attempt to stop pointless rep.. is going to backfire.

When you had to rep 10 people a day, there was less need to have the "I owe rep to : _______" thing. But since theres 5, thats half the amount of people, therefore instead of spending one day 'pointless' repping to get to the next, you're now spending 2 days.

I think that it makes people pointless rep more. Other then that it's fine. Wasn't the amount of people you had to rep before you got to the same person also raised? or did that stay the same
