How to install Fusion-News.

Hello!

This is a simple guide on how to install the PHP script, FusionNews.
This is like cutenews abit harder tho.

I have used the following software to upload this on to the server

- WS_FTP Pro, - This can be downloaded by clicking Here.

And the fusionNews Script - Here.



First of all: Make a folder called “News” or “FusionNews” on the server, upload the “Upload” file into that folder.



Step Two:Find the folder called "News" you need to CHMOD this to 777.

To do this in WS_FTP Right click the folder which will be news in this case,

So, Right Click > Operations > FTP Command’s > CHMOD(unix)



For an image on this Click here.



After doing the above a popup will appear, - Image Click Here.



You need to change the 744 to 777 - Image click here.

The following Files need to be CHMOD’d

- The Upload File itself

- All Sub-Folders underneath the “Upload” file.

- Fusionnews.xml (Under the Upload folder)



The Following files need to be CHMOD’D to 666 – The files can be found in the Upload folder

- /Upload/badwords.txt

- /Upload/Banned.php

- /Upload/config.php

- /Upload/flood.php

- /Upload/headlines.php

- /Upload/jsfunc.js

- /Upload/Language.db

- /Upload/news.php

- /Upload/News(Folder)/news.1.php

- /Upload/News(folder)/toc.php

- /Upload/smillies.php

- /Upload/users.php



The “Templates” Folder’s content’s need’s to be CHMOD’D to 777



And the following files need to be CHMOD’D to 755 These files are located under the upload folder

- /Upload/Achieve.php

- /Upload/comments.php

- /Upload/fullnews.php

- /Upload/functions.php

- /Upload/index.php

- /Upload/Plugins/check_chmod.php

- /Upload/search.php

- /Upload/send.php

- /Upload/Upload.php





You may now disconnect from the Server. (FTP)



Step Three: You can now run the php install script, eg: http://Yoursite.com/”fusionnews”/”News”/Upload/installer.php

You are now welcomed with the following screen – Image Click Here.



Run this, This will check that you CHMOD’D the correct folders. if they are set to a Green “Yes” You may proceed with the button underneath. This will bring the “Make admin login detail’s” – Image click Here.



If all done completely you will get this screen – Image click here.



You may now login with the link provided.



Please Rename/Delete

- installer.php

- db_converter.php

This is for Security reasons.



This is my First Guide/Tutorial so it will proberly be bad.

wahay, thought no one would ever reply, i prefer FusionNews due to better security but i use cutenews more. for some sort of reason :s

Cutenews seems pretty full proof to me, cant be exploited in itself, other than pass guessing "/

well it's hard to find out, it's like durable, if you know what i mean, as for cutenews, it's a safe program but i like Fusion and use it for diffrent websites i have owned in the many year's. It's praticly the same but well i like Fusion, the only thing most people dont do with Cutenews is delete/rename the install file i think it is, that's how many cutenews runners get's hacked it could be config though, aint used none for a while :S

You havent used it for a while. If the install files still up there, you will no about it, aka 9/10 ths of the ACP is taken up by a big message telling you you cant use the program till its been removed

so im doubtful thats a problem

plus the configs in the data directy wich is protected by htaccess so only enternal programs on the server can access it

Yes, but some people has been seen to do it before, evan an a Official fansite, as that's how someone posted uhm "Rude" pics over it. i didnt know httaccss blocks it, i thought you have to set it up manualy :s or is that what you mean?
