    selfharming is addictive.
whether people do it for attention or not.
im guessing your friend doesnt do it for attention.
considering she has depression, its probably her outlet to deal with things.
if you want her to get help, tell her.
its hard quitting an addiction, takes time, people relapse, and people slip up, but give her all the support she needs.
if she doesnt feel she is ready to stop, then dont push her to stop.
just be there for her and let her know you care and that you are there whenever she needs you.

seriously? Ive never heard of addictive hurt before... wow. i get what you mean with an outlet for dealing with things, because i once resorted to it when i got so bad. I guess all you can do though, is just support her.

Self harming/slitting is stupid. Not only is it ugly and it makes you look like a total freak, its would be messy too. Its like spilling milk on the floor just so you can clean it up. I have had my fair-share of heartache and pain and I am not all sad and depressed and cutting. Cutting is a sad attempt for attention, nothing more, nothing less.

obviously youre one of the close minded people.

    and yes, it is addictive.
hurt is addictive when its possibly the only thing keeping you from going crazy.

It just seems completely bizarre that people inflict pain on themselves to get rid of pain? ;sSSSSs

it's like YOUR LIFE REALLY ISN'T THAT BAD. TRY LIVING IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.
    If you rest, you rust

Incorrect. People hate themselves enough to do it and if they don't tell other people then it's obviously not for attention. This girl at my school had been doing it for ages but I didn't know until I saw marks on her wrists.

Its nothing to do with having a oh so horrible life.
    Its a coping mechnism.
Physical pain overrides the emotional pain.
No matter how much a persons life can seem so good, thats not always the story.
Just because they dont live in a country with no food or shelter, doesnt mean they have the best of lives.
They could have suffered from alot of abuse as a young child, or have been raped.
    Thats alot to go through.

    Keep an open mind, jeez.
    Or dont, whatever.
