    Co-pilot dies during plane flight

The plane was diverted after the co-pilot collapsed and died

A holiday flight from Manchester to Cyprus was forced to divert to Turkey after the co-pilot collapsed and died during the journey.
The GB Airways Airbus A320, with 156 passengers on board, was bound for Paphos but diverted to Istanbul on Sunday afternoon.
Passengers spent the night in Istanbul and are to be flown to Cyprus later.
An airline spokeswoman said that at no time was the plane, passengers or crew in any danger.
    'Medical emergency'
"GB Airways confirms that yesterday's flight BA 6826 from Manchester to Paphos diverted to Istanbul due to a medical emergency on the flight deck," the spokeswoman said.
"On landing, it was confirmed that the first officer (co-pilot) had died during the flight. At no time was the aircraft, passengers or crew in any danger.
"The first officer's next of kin have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with his wife and family following this tragic news."

Wow, what are the chances .

This is one reson why planes have 2 pilots. If it wasn't the case, those passengers could have all died unless auto pilot was on.

but can Auto Pilot land the plane?
I’ll be a story in your head, but that’s okay, because we’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best. A daft old man who stole a magic box and ran away. Did I ever tell you that I stole it? Well, I borrowed it. I always meant to take it back. Oh, that box, Amy, you’ll dream about that box. It’ll never leave you. Big and little at the same time. Brand-new and ancient and the bluest blue ever. And the times we had, eh? Would had…Never had. In your dreams, they’ll still be there. The Doctor and Amy Pond and the days that never came.
