Xbox Live IP Failed?

hey, just wondering if any of yous cant tell me how to fix my problem?

basically, when i try to connect to xbox live it comes up with ip failed.

i am connected to the internet via wireless and the xbox ethernet cable is connected into the back of my computer since the modem is in the other room.

anyone got any ideas on how to fix this or got any other ideas except buy a 10m ethernet cable or a xbox wireless adaptor?

Go on your computer then go to "Run" type in "cmd" then on "cmd" type "ipconfig /all" look for the IP Address it gives you. If that's the same one you put on your xbox then you must of put your wep key wrong. If your wep key is wrong it fails everything apart from the Wireless adapatar if you have one.

hmmm just checked that and eveything seems fine ... this silly ip thing erm ive checked the sticky aswell and that hasnt work so i guess ill just buy a longer ethernet cable to connect the xbox directly into the router?

Manually assign stuff to your xbox. I've found that Automatically never works
