Mine didn't work for ages, I just let the battery die and ever since then it's worked again.

Apple was gonna replace it but I had to wait for it to be sent to the USA and then a new one back from the USA because I purchased it in America :|

I thought the iPhone and Touch used a sliding bar on the touch-screen?

iPod touch doesn't have a hold button, it has a power button and as someone has already said you have to slide it to unlock the touchscreen.

I doubt the warranty will cover it because its not the manufacturers fault as you are the one that must have pushed the button in too hard. My advise would be to try phoning them to ask how much it would cost to repair it.

It has a sleep/hold button, and yes it does cover in the warranty due to the fact it could be a possible technical default.
