I have a large lump under my ear which is level with my chin. I went to the doctors and just told me to take anti-inflammitaries, not that they worked :s

Yeh, It'll just be a swollen gland.

Tends to happen with irration or when it becomes inflamed..

Im sure its nothing to worry about.
But a simple trip to the doctors won't do you any harm!

I had the same thing ;D.

Woke up one morning and my gland was the size of a tennis ball!

So, I went the doctors and they prescribed me anti-biotics.

NOTE: If you are prescribed anti-biotics you must finish the prescribed course. Even if you feel fine after a few days. This is because the bacteria may still be living, and will need the full course to get rid of it completely.
