In a statement his family said: "Rob was kind and thoughtful and would always help others out."
Police said a man, aged 21, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The family statement added: "Rob... would always spend his last penny on other people instead of himself.
"The life and soul of the party, he was very outgoing, loved sports, and would always strike up a conversation with people.
"He was respectful to others and adored by all his family and friends. He was asset to the family."
Mr Knox's uncle, Kevin May, said: "He was a big guy, always full of fun... a genuinely nice guy, a very caring guy like his family is."
Vicky May, 16, a cousin of Mr Knox, said: "You never think it will happen to you. Rob wasn't a thug, it wasn't gang-related. Everyone loved him.
"He was more like a brother, he would always look out for me. He was friends with so many people."
    'Shocked and saddened'
Mr Knox had won a part in the new Harry Potter film, The Half Blood Prince.
After the fatal stabbing Warner Bros released a statement which said: "We are all shocked and saddened by this news and at this time our sympathies are with his family." In the incident in the early hours of Saturday a 16-year-old was stabbed in the chest, but his injuries are not life-threatening, and a 21-year-old was stabbed in the neck. He is reported to be in a serious condition in hospital.

Mmm, its so sick when you hear young people like him getting bloody attacked.

    WHY!

It's shocking, sickening and scary to read reports like this.

Firstly, it's scary because .. you don't know if it's even safe to step out your front door, nevermind actually go out.

But what annoys me most is the shocking and sickening part. It's usually teens who are murdering people these days; what in the name of jesus is going through their minds when they kill someone?? I'd put my money on something in the region of, "haha the boys will love this" ... WHAT THE HELL. Ugh just no. Just no. It's so angering, sickening, and down-right depressing that teenagers these days will do anything to "look big".

And I bet that's the biggest reason, to them, as to why they do these stupid, horrendous things.

it will never stop, people just dont wanna stand up for no one anymore incase of getting hurt themselves and its all about carryin a weapon to look 'big' or be 'cool'.
i dnt think alot of the killers mean to use there weapons but there anger takes over.
im sure this boy had a lovley future ahead of him, and i hope the best for his family at this time.

It's madness, their was about 10 of his friends wrestling the attacker, and most got injured.

The attacker was a maniac 21 year old, wielding two knives!
