Sounds like you got an AGP motherboard with a PCI-E card...

You were silly not to check all this out before you bought the card.

If it doesn't fit into the slot then how is it compatible? :S

What colour is the slot you're trying to fit it in?

Sounds like you're trying to fit it into a PCI socket, however some PCI-E sockets are white though. Is there not a socket with another graphics card already plugged in?

    Those white slots are PCI.

Theres a graphics card in there, looks like AGP to me. You cannot use your 8800 card in that computer.
