    Default Vista

    Hey,

I updated to vista around 2 days ago and since then I have had constant problems with connecting to the internet. My connection works perfectly for around 10 minutes then it stops working almost... although it doesn't acctually disconnect from the internet. My firefox refuses to load and my MSN and Skype just disconnect (or skype drops the call).

Anyway on how to resolve this? It's very annoying. I've read around and found people experiencing this problem like 2 years ago but have found no real answer.

    Thanks,
    Uwe.

Are you sure it's Vista and not just your network or ISP service?

You should try a system restore to before you installed the update. If you're still having the problems then contact your ISP for help.

I rang TalkTalk and they are asured that everything is perfect and that it has nothing to do with them. My cousin's laptop was also able to connect without any problem. I have no idea what to do and I know a few of my friends have this problem but it's becoming so... annoying that I cant even talk in skype and use ie at the same time.

Did you upgrade from Windows XP or did you do a clean install (wipe all of your documents off and then restore them)?

    1. If you answered Upgrade to the above, re-install Windows Vista but format your computer. Remember to back up all of your documents and make sure you have the disks for your programs.

    2. Check all drivers are up to date. Windows update wont install all updates so go to the makers web site for all of your drivers. Especially your Network Card.

Try doing those, hopefully they will work.

Thanks for your help - it seems to have done the trick, however, now I am unable to download anything. EVERYTHING I try to download (MSN, firefox, skype) all say that it doesn't have a valid certificate.

    Any ideas?
