    Default PC Rebuild.

    I've just been looking at rebuilding my PC, And this is what I've come up with;

    Allied PSU 500W ATXPFC 12cm fan SATA 1 to 2 RoHS - 500W12PPFC - www.microdirect.co.uk - Optional PSU, Which is 500W, It's 19 pounds more but I get a free 400W PSU with the case, is it really worth paying?

    ThermalTake HARDCANO 14HDD COOLER A2321 - A2321 - www.microdirect.co.uk - Cooler

    Corsair 2048MB TwinX XMS2 6400C4 DDR2 4-4-4-12 800Mhz Memory Kit (2 x 1024MB) - TWIN2X2048-6400C4 - www.microdirect.co.uk - 2GB RAM

    Maxtor 500GB Diamondmax2 SATA2Hard Disk Drive 7200rpm 32MB - STM3500320AS - www.microdirect.co.uk - 500GB Hard Drive

    SoundBlaster Audigy SE 7.1 surroundsound Internal oem - 30SB057000000 - www.microdirect.co.uk - Sound Card

    ATi Radeon X1650PRO 512MB PCI-E DVI, TV Out Oem - 13297 - www.microdirect.co.uk - Graphics Card

    Asus Motherboard M2A-VM HDMI AM2 AMD 690G DDR2 integrated VGA micro ATX - M2A-VM HDMI - www.microdirect.co.uk - Motherboard

    AMD CPU AM2 5200 Dual CoreAthlon 64 Socket AM2 940 PIN Retail box inc fan (3yr Manufacturers Warranty) - ADO5200DOBOX - www.microdirect.co.uk - Dual Core Processor

    Lite-on DVD ROM SATA Black oem DH-16D2S-02C - DH-16D2S-02C - www.microdirect.co.uk - DVD Drive

    MD FC-GR11A Black midi tower case 400W PSU +HT Air duct +USB ATX - FC-GR11A - www.microdirect.co.uk - Sexy case, with 400W PSU

    So all together, it comes to;
    269.71 with a 400W PSU - or
    288.76 with a 500W PSU

    So basically, tell me what you think, what could be improved and is worth buying the larger PSU?

    Thanks.

    Looks alright, but you really don't need the HDD cooler. Hard drives work better when they are warmer.

    Nah, they start to malfunction when they hit 50c+. I can tell you now that isn't going to happen unless you have like 7 hard drives packed together

    Nah, with those specs a 400w PSU should be fine.

    Looks ok for a basic, budget PC.
