    Default coolest album packaging/art?

    i dont mean just the cover, i mean the case as a whole. i know a lot of you guys don't buy cd's but for those that do, what are some of your favorite cases and album artwork?

    i recently bought the new no age album, "nouns" and i was really excited about the album art. basically, it's a 68 paged book shaped like an album that's full of photos and strange art, and the cd itself is in a sleeve in front. another one of my all time favorites is the artwork for "kid a" by radiohead, because it's got all sorts of different types of really fragile paper and fold out images and a really interesting array of art. and another notable one for me would be "in the aeroplane over the sea" by neutral milk hotel. that one is like a fold-out old-timey style pamphlet and at the bottom in tiny print are most of the lyrics in a continuous form.

    Hard-Fi's made me laugh when we bought it. It looks like this

    Or the single, which looks like this;

    And inside there's a booklet which says;

    Pure class.
    PM me for help.

    I think one of the most amazingly different packagings of an album is Buckethead's In Search of The.

    It's a collection of 13 albums, with each cd cover hand-drawn and numbered differently by Buckethead himself. No two sets are the same.

    tenacious d's pick of destiny album is quite cool, on the special edition the cover changes as you move it around

    I have a Hard Fi mug (don't ask) which says "No Band Mugshot Available."... cheese. They got slated in NME for it though.

    The Viva La Vida album by Coldplay is great - the art in the sleeve is really random, but quite genius as well - and the fact it was all on card (both the Cd and Vinyl) really emphasized the greenness of the band. We have a framed Copy of it at my dads.

    Agree with the Coldplay one, was going to say that but thought the Hard-Fi one was smarter =]
