    Default Internet on phone

Edit: I just realised I went on quite a bit.

Main question: Is there a phone out there I can use for internet w/ a keyboard without getting a data plan.

I'm using Bell (www.bell.ca) since I'm in Canada. I currently have the Samsung Double-Flip (U740), mainly for texting. I'm a big texter, I send about 100-200 per day. Now, since I make long trips with friends and family members to places (NY, Ontario, etc) and I'm a big fan of the internet, I figured why not get a phone that can use the internet?

My initial thought was a Blackberry. I don't mind paying the ~250 when I renew for it, but I heard that for blackberries, you need a minimum plan of $45. That I don't really want to pay. I know for my service provider, unlimited mobile browser is $7. Then theres some other hidden fee or whatever that'll cost me another 7, so it makes about $14 a month, which I don't mind paying.

So I'd like to hear from people that have used phones with internet, such as the HTCs, BlackBerries, Motorola Q, Samsung Jack/Ace, etc, and just explain a bit about it to me.

Also, do you need a phone with windows mobile to go on the internet? I've got a friend on the Rogers network that can go on any site with his LG Shine, which I like, but I'd like a bigger screen.

Almost any phone nowadays can use the internet, just make sure your on an internet plan otherwise it will cost a bomb. Phones are usually okay for internet browsing but I would always recommend an internet TABLET like the Nokia 770 or 810, these connect via bluetooth to your phone and use your phones internet.

I am also in Canada, I don't like Bell, since they merged with Aliant I find them a total rip off. Anyways on a Mobile Phone you will be using a WAP based browser, it wont load pages like a computer (a Windows Mobile/CE device will load pages better, but still not as good as a PC). If you want to plug the phone into the computer and use it as a modem to access the internet you can, but you will be required to pay a tethering fee, so if you're interested in doing this, you should look at tethering prices. The cheapest dataplan is $45 and you only get 2mbs for the entire month...terrible..

Bell really sucks. I just wish I had Rogers. I love my cell phones, I use them more than anything and I wish I had Rogers. SIM cards are awesome.

    Thanks for the help guys

Aliant/Bell has always sucked. I had a phone from them and they didn't do jack when it broke because it was a piece of ****. If I were to go for a phone from the 3 leading mobile service providers in Canada, it would be Telus.
I'm at a point in my life where I don't care if you like me or you don't. If you like me, cool. If you don't, meh.
