Default [TUT] Guide To Creating A Good Fansite

The guide to making a good fansite - By Jack (Arsenal)

I've put this together to help people make thier site. I really hope this does help some people!

    First Ideas

    - Make sure you have a clear idea about what your going to base it on.
    - Make sure you have enough money to set up your site.
    - Make sure you have enough time (Dont start if you have things happening at school e.g GCSE's)
    - Make sure you have the full knowledge to make and set up your site.

    Helpful Tips

    - Have another person to help you (Make sure you trust them!)
    - Base it on a large audience (E.g dont aim it at people who play the recorder because it wont get poular)
    - Have a friendly community (if its just started you cant be to strict because people will lose interest)
    - If its a website add a forum or some sort of chatting program onto it (This will also make the site more active)

When starting to make the site

    - Get a domain that can be remembered, and not to long
    - Get hosting thats been reccomended from a friend, or that you know are reliable and cheap.
    - Get a layout which is attractive and bright (makes you feel happy:p).
    - Think of something to add onto your site which will make your site special with someone no-one else has.

    Finishing your site

    - Make sure it looks good and will bring alot of visitors.
    - Make sure people are going to stick around by adding things like games, news etc.
    - Offer jobs, so the staff can bring thier friends to the site, but not to many!! You dont want the only people to visit the site is the staff.

    Security

    - Make sure the passwords e.g hosting are hard to guess, include numbers and letters. You dont want the site to get popular and then get hacked!
    - Dont give the passwords to anyone unless you trust them 100%

    Increasing Popularity

    - Tell everyone you know about the site.
    - Advertise everywhere.
    - Don't advertise to much in the same place, it will annoy people and give your site a bad name.

    The End!

I hope this helped! Comments please?

Might I suggest www.godaddy.com - Very cheap and very reliable.
