What can I get for ~800-900??

I've got a friend that would buy my whole computer set up for somewhere around 750ish... Thats cause I'm planning on a laptop... I don't mind kicking in some extra $. I was thinking of a bit more $ then getting a MacBook, but I'm not 100% sure if I should. I had an old iBook G3 (worth $300) that worked perfect for what I wanted then, but then the logic board died (13 years old, what can I expect??). I liked the OS software, but I'm not 100% sure I like it more than Windows.

What I've considered:

This is probably my favourite options. I'd get the Mac stuff I'm looking for, but a bit cheaper. I'd need to buy on eBay.

$idk, maybe around 700? Any input would help me out a lot.


Overall, I dont know exactly which I want... I need it to last too, because I'll be using this in Cegept/College.

If you don't need high-end graphics, macbook, if you do, powerbook. But if you do need high-end graphics I seriously recommend Macbook Pro, would be faster (I use it and I'm loving it ) Maybe save up a bit more first? Theres a premium to be paid for Mac OS but I think it's worth it. for your Macbook, I suggest if you buy it upgrade to at least 2 GB ram, quite cheap!
