Whats the best way to compress a file? I have a 600mb file and im looking to reduce it as much as possible to upload it.
Lets set the stage on fire, and hollywood will be jealous.

KGB archiver. Takes ages to compress though, and then takes ages to decompress

Yeah, the more compressed something is, the longer it will take to decompress. The one Stephen mentioned is best.

You can also vary the compression rate in WinRAR. Smaller files will take longer for you to compress and longer for the person on the other end to decompress.

I'd recommend WinUHA as an alternative to KGB, I chose it when I needed to reduce some movies to fit on a DVD and it worked great.
