    Default Can't update iPod touch?

    I have a 1g iPod Touch 8gb.
And I can't seem to update it to 2.1,
I tried twice and iTunes (I'm running 8.0) said "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (6)."
I Googled it but found nothing of any help.

This happened to me when I installed 2.0 and I can't remember what I did to stop it.

    Help me please?

PS: I'm not bothered if I can't update to 2.1, I don't even care what fw it's on, at the moment it's sitting here like a brick. Which, obviously, isn't what I really want it to be.
i've been here for over 8 years and i don't know why

Uninstall and then re-install iTunes 8 and then it should sort the problem, happened to me but mine was the iPhone. If that doesn't work put it into recovery mode, press the power button and home button for 10 seconds.

Put it into DFU mode, hold down power and home until it turns off it self, then let go of power, carry on holding home until Vista finds your iPod, iTunes will then let you restore it.
