Default A good way to teach english literature?

    Hi
Well I think I have a good way to teach english literature for GCSE/A level etc. On whatever play the person is working on (for me, romeo + juliet), everyone should convert a scene into 'text talk' or 'internet talk'. Then, they should write what emotion etc has been lost from the passage by converting it into that, if you get what I mean. Obviously this shouldn't be done every day for the year, just for a few lessons but it would help a lot.

I think its good because most people will be interested in that, and it will help them learn more if they're interested in it

Please let me hear your views on this, I will bring this up with the head of english at my school sometime soon

I tried rewriting a middle-English play into internet slang, got a fair few scenes done before I gave up lol. It does kinda help but I think just modernising and paraphrasing rather than converting to amusing styles would work better. The problem with rewriting plays is that often you get spoken puns and wordplay that you'll lose in the transition, but for the general plot this is a good idea.

Everything would be lost in translation, especially Shakespeare. His words have meaning and are specially constructed.

Thats a good idea becuase when I like something I pay attnetion more and get better grades
    Example:
    Businness - I like - A
    Science - I hate - C+
    1. Jeremy 1129 up, 295 downA named based on the biblical name Jeremiah. Used as a name for children who are blessed with a large brain and/or penis. Also used as a replacement for "perfect".
We had a child and it had a very large penis so we named it Jeremy.

Study a famous play, re-write it out really badly and then see if they can fix it up a little.
That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it cause we consider these minutes golden.

The idea is to translate it into text talk, and then discuss what has been lost from it, and does it have more/less meaning etc if you get me
