    Default Mobile Phone Contract Cancellation

Yeah, I want to cancel my Orange 18 month contract. I only started it on Sunday. Am I entitled to cancel it for free within the first 7 or 14 days of the contract? If not, could I do a transfer of liability? My sister's friend at work wants my phone and contract so could I go to the shop where I bought the phone from and ask them to change my details to her details? Thanks.

You may be able to just goto the shop and change the details, but you've signed up to a legally binding contract so you'll be lucky.

Yeah, I hope I can change the details or just give it them back. My Dad has a book called "You & Your Rights" and he read that all contracts are allowed to be cancelled within 7, 14 and 28 days but I dunno whether this applies for mobiles. He told me to just go to the shop and say "I want to cancel the contract and give you my phone, finished."

Yeh most big companies, I'm sure orange is a main one for it, give you (at least) a 14 day cooling-off period for you to return it in.

Lol, I'm cancelling because £630 is a rip off. I went to Carphone Warehouse today and they showed me a leaflet saying that Orange doesn't do any returns or exchanges, but they said I can do a transfer of liability with somebody who wants the phone & contract.

You won't be able to cancel completely mate.

Only O2 offer full 14 day returns.

No, my sister's friend wants it so I am gonna have to get my sister's friends' details and ring up Orange and tell them to change the details to my sister's friends' then Orange will ring up my sister's friend to confirm.
