Is it normal for my iPod to take maybe 2-3 seconds just to pause a song? I was thinking it might be because i have so much album artwork/songs (only abou 2100 songs though), videos, podcasts etc..

It is the Classic 80GB black model.

Any tips on improving the speed of the iPod?

Because when the iPod Classic's first came out they had allot of software-related problems.

Try restarting it (I think that's the correct term)
Go to main menu and hold Menu and Center button for 5 seconds (although may be longer in your case lol) until the apple logo appears.

If not, try removing some songs and experimenting.

If not again, try completley restoring the ipod.

    Hope this helps
